Post Award Coordinator II– 534561

Job Summary:

Works closely with investigators, and administrative staff to coordinate the management of grant related expenditures and the financial administration of awards, including grant set up, review and approval of costs, budget modifications, closeouts, collections, reporting obligations and financial reconciliations. Ensures that post award activities are in compliance with agency and institutional policies, interprets grant and contract requirements and regulations.

  • Manages and oversees Post-Award financial grant functions within an assigned portfolio. Participates in the administration of accounts including providing administrative oversight for expenditures
  • Sets up new awards and maintains the Grants Module Suite and Financial system for all award amendments.
  • Reviews all award budget modifications, and acts as liaison between the Principal Investigator (PI) and the sponsor for any required approvals.
  • Maintains communication with Pre award staff regarding funding progress and renewals
  • Assists in the monitoring of grant expenditures using new grant reports, initiates corrections as required. Coordinates fiscal plans, operating budgets and accounts maintenance.
  • Performs accounting functions to include reporting, analysis and reconciliation. Monitors expenditures of research grants on periodic basis and communicates unfavorable spending trends to department administrators.
  • Assists with external audits whether federal, state or private.
  • Reviews and approves HR transactions that includes payroll transfers, salary increases, job offers for grant funded positions.
  • Applies departmental and other approved policies and procedures to areas of responsibility. Implements approved internal controls to assure fiscal accountability.
  • Monitors all cost sharing (both internal and external) to ensure compliance with University and sponsor guidelines.
  • Monitors expenditures of research grants (such as administrative costs, or restricted expenses) on periodic basis and communicates unfavorable spending trends to department administrators.
  • Approves transfers of Non-Payroll charges initiated by the PIs or Administrators ensuring compliance with University and Sponsor guidelines and obtains the appropriate approval from the College Dean and VP of Research when necessary.
  • Provides guidance to new departmental administrators on matters related to sponsored research administration.
  • Guides and assist new staff in the interpretation of University policies and procedures as it relates to the Colleges internal grants administration practices.
  • Serve as backup to Post Award members.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years relevant experience.

Desired Qualifications: Experience in a post award research environment.

Salary: $67,778.12
